Talofa lava aiga …
As you know, we have been working tirelessly to complete the genealogy for our families. I have also been able to retrace back to José Vitorino de Barros and Maria Izabel de Vitorino de Barros, who were Antonio Pereira Vitorino de Barros father and mother … the original Pereira who entered the Pacific Islands way back in 1836. Check out this page [Our Historic Story] to read up on this amazing journey. Previous information regarding more historical ancestral accounts are vague at best, and so I have decided to remove them until I can locate more concrete evidence that ties them into our family tree.
In order to ensure the continuation of this genealogical record, I feel that it is important to invite all family members to become administrators of the My Heritage website. You will find us here -> ‘Pereira’s of the South Pacific‘.
All you need to do if you would like to participate is send me your email address and I will send you an invitation to the site. You can then update/correct information, add images/video/notes and whatever you like to add will remain a part of our history for as long as the My History website exists. I do regular backups locally on my computers and on the site itself, so there is a safety mechanism in place should anything go wrong.
I think it is wise to lay down some guidelines to create a sense of responsibility and harmonious interaction given that the nature of having administrative rights can impact everyone.
- Please do not delete anything that you personally have not uploaded.
- If you have an issue with anything at all that you personally have not uploaded, please discuss your issue through our facebook page, stating your reasons clearly, calmly and with the utmost respect.
- Healthy debate is necessary in order to get to the essence of anything important, and words can sometimes be misunderstood in a number of situations. Remember that all ages are present, therefore, please be wary of;
- use of language;
- jumping to conclusions;
- acting authoritatively;
- being respectful;
- acting in a mature manner;
- showing inclusiveness.
It is well understood that what we have so far is not necessarily 100% accurate, but we are getting closer all the time. Additionally, there are many family members who live in very remote locations (think Tokelau and Samoa) as well as America and Australia that have no idea of what we are trying to do. It would be absolutely wonderful if it can be shared with them if anyone should visit our family in these locations.
Lastly, I hope you all like the refurbished ‘House of Pereira’ website. The new layout will allow me to fit much more content inside without it getting too cluttered. If you have any ideas/suggestions, please don’t hesitate to let me know and I will do my very best to incorporate into the site and/or the Radio Station.
That’s it for now … God bless you all and take care of one another.
